Shalva Papuashvili Presented the Draft Resolution on the Approval of the Parliament of Georgia’s 2027 Budget at the Plenary Session

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, presented the draft resolution “On the Approval of the 2027 Budget of the Parliament of Georgia” at the plenary session.

According to Shalva Papuashvili, within the framework of the document outlining the country's key data and directions for 2027–2029, the total projected budget of the Parliament for 2027 had initially been determined at GEL 102 million. However, taking into account the fact that the salaries of 49 Members of Parliament who did not take up their parliamentary mandates were removed from the 2026 budget, the Parliament’s budget in the 2027 draft was reduced by GEL 10.46 million, setting the budget for the coming year at GEL 91.54 million.

Under the draft 2027 budget of the Parliament, the total number of employees is projected at 708 positions.

Shalva Papuashvili also briefed Members of Parliament on the figures under the economic expenditure classifications.

The “Compensation of Employees” item is set at GEL 45.8 million, which is GEL 300,000 less than in the current year’s budget.

The “Goods and Services” item has been increased by GEL 800,000, in line with existing trends, and amounts to GEL 34 million.

The “Grants” item remains unchanged at GEL 150,000. The allocation under “Social Security” also remains at GEL 900,000.

The “Other Expenses” item amounts to GEL 4.5 million, representing an increase of GEL 157,000 compared to the current year’s budget. This increase is related to higher costs of health insurance services.

As for the “Increase in Non-Financial Assets” item, GEL 6 million has been allocated for 2027.
