Sozar Subari: We need to fortify our sense of Georgianness, our nationalism, through the constitution

"Initially, when we began advocating that the family constitutes the union of a man and a woman and nothing else, there was considerable opposition from the non-governmental sector and the then opposition. Critics labeled it as homophobic, contrary to European values, and suggested that it had not been properly understood for its intended purpose. However, as time passed, it became evident why this stance was crucial. Worldwide pressure mounted on all countries, including Georgia, to refrain from holding such views and to legalize same-sex marriage. Indeed, there are countries that have legalized this practice”, - Sozar Subari, the Chairman of the parliamentary political group "People's Power", stated during the public discussion of the constitutional drafts "On Amendments to the Constitution of Georgia" and "On Family Values and Protection of Minors" in Ambrolauri.

According to him, many European countries, such as Poland and Hungary, have enacted very stringent laws. Sozar Subari recalled his tenure as public defender and drew parallels with the present situation.

"What were once considered classic rights have now been pushed to the background, and in many cases, they are completely disregarded. Instead, what are now termed as human rights have emerged, but in reality, they do not uphold any rights at all. There are approximately 10 million children worldwide who are raised in families with two fathers or two mothers. Scientific studies have established that these children are three times more likely to experience mental health issues, emotional disturbances, and various forms of disorders. The rights of these children are violated, and simultaneously, the freedom of expression, which forms the foundation of democracy, is infringed upon. Simply speaking out about their experiences, upbringing, and the challenges they faced as children can lead to immediate censorship across all information platforms", - Sozar Subari stated and he added that the world today is heading towards an LGBT dictatorship.

According to him, anti-values are introduced by force, and they are disguised and presented as values.

"We need to fortify our sense of Georgianness, our nationalism, through the constitution", - Sozar Subari added.
