The GUAM PA Delegation discussing members the supportive steps of Georgia for Ukraine

The Parliamentary Delegation to GUAM PA participated in the Committee sittings of the Assembly.


The Head of the Delegation, Giorgi Khelashvili touched upon the Russian aggression in Ukraine and underlined that this war has long ago gone beyond the regional area and now constitutes a challenge for the Western world.


The sittings of the GUAM PA Political Affairs and Regional Security Committee, and the Science, Culture, Education and Sports Committee held online were attended by Georgian MPs – Giorgi Khelashvili, David Matikashvili, Irakli Zarkua and Khatuna Samnidze.


G. Khelashvili, chairing the Political Affairs and Regional Security Committee, highlighted the political and humanitarian support of Georgia to Ukraine expressed in bilateral and multilateral formats. He introduced updated information on the grave situation in the occupied territories of Georgia.


I. Zarkua informed the members of the Science, Culture, Education and Sports Committee about the integration of the Ukrainian refugees - children and students into the Georgian educational system.


D. Matikashvili introduced the educational reforms and dwelt on the upheld, ongoing and scheduled projects facilitating the approximation of the educational system of Georgia to the European standards
