The briefing by Gedevan Popkhadze

Media and Society 25 Feb 2019
The briefing by Gedevan Popkhadze

Gedevan Popkhadze left the Parliamentary Majority as he stated at the briefing today.

According to him, he has already filed the application on secession on Friday to the political movement “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia”, as well as the Majority Leader and the Faction “Georgian Dream”.

“I would like to dedicate this briefing to the reasons of my decision. I have repeatedly expressed my critical position about the processes in Georgian Dream and always had the sense that my resources within Georgian Dream are being expired in terms to have any impact on the political decisions. Now, I fail to see myself remaining in Georgian Dream illogical”.

The Georgian Dream has deviated from the ideology and values. Publicity as an important aspect in politics: “People must know about the made decisions and shall be informed about the decision-making process and about the dissent in the party. I would like my colleagues, opting to stay in Georgian Dream, good luck and say that the years I have spent with them serve the precondition our my friendship with many of them. True, I dislike many but it does not mean that I openly declare my hostility to any of them. I just want to serve my country and my people which require the quality of independence and freedom I earned today and I hope that together with the society and media, we will make the political process as the precondition for proper development of the country”.
