The Briefing by the Independent MP Eka Beselia

Parliamentarians 12 Oct 2020
The Briefing by the Independent MP Eka Beselia

The independent MP Eka Beselia dedicated his briefing to the violations detected during the electoral campaigns aiming at influencing the will of the electors by various methods.

“Thus, I decided to hold the special briefing to speak about the violations detected during the electoral campaigns. These elections are very important and crucial as it will change a lot as we all agree. So, it is important to ensure not only October 31 – the E-day but the pre-period. Thus, the quality of freedom of the elections will affect the assessment of the election returns. I do not belong to the category making the statements without facts and circumstances and so, I intend to make warnings today for the people on various positions on the municipal level, who by order or driven with their ambitions, are engaged in illicit actions. It concerns the application of various methods to influence the will of the electors, their intimidation, menace and in a rude manner reminding the most vulnerable social strata about the termination of their social allowances and preferences if they openly support our candidates. It concerns the people that want to attend the meeting but are not able to do so as they are told that in case of their public appearance, they will lose their jobs. Any such action influencing the will of the electors and freedom of expression of their opinion – all are attributed to the criminal offense and I would like to tell all these officials, failing to realize about their offenses or even realizing it, that all their actions are registered and submitted for the due response to the respective agencies. None of such facts will remain un-responded regardless of the outcomes of the political processes”, - she noted.

According to her, the facts of influencing the will of the electors were detected in Mtskheta constituency, Zestafoni, Zugdidi and Tbilisi.
