The meeting of the Deputy-Chair of Procedural Issues and Rules Committee with interns and practitioners

Procedural Issues and Rules Committee 15 Dec 2015
The meeting of the Deputy-Chair of Procedural Issues and Rules Committee with interns and practitioners

Pridon Sakvarelidze met with interns and practitioners and spoke about his personal professional experience and his activity in the Parliament, as well as the Committee activity and the duties and rights thereof. He in details overviewed the legislative process. Interns and practitioners asked about ongoing processes on Abkhazia territory in response to which, P. Sakvarelidze noted that in view to restore trust, various events shall be undertaken. Economic development and attention to Abkhazian people is the way allowing healing of the wounds of war.

He spoke about the campaign, aiming at extirpation of Georgian language on Abkhazian territory. As he stated, restriction of education in natural language is violation of fundamental human rights. This campaign cannot result in positive outcomes as language extirpation is a hard process and Georgian language cannot be extinct.

He also spoke about the 6-year age limitation for the elementary school and stated that there are the factors shared upon decision-making – psychological and emotional compatibility of a child, health state etc. Thus, this decision was correct. Speaking about education, he noted that in view to increase quality of education, the pedagogues shall as well be trained for higher qualification. He spoke about visa liberalization and the main phases that Georgia shall be through, which according to him, will take 6 months. He also answered the questions.

In the end, Pridon Sakvarelidze wished them Merry Christmas and happy New Year. The meetings with interns and practitioners with the Committees and MPs are held on regular-base and serves for higher transparency and openness of the Parliament.

The meeting was as well attended by the Head of HR Department, Mrs. Diana (Marine) Asatiani.
