The Draft Law on New Species of Animals and Plants adopted with the III Reading
The Parliament discussed with the III reading and adopted with 82 votes the Draft Law on New Species of Animals and Plants.
As the reporter, the Chair of the Agrarian Committee, Nino Tsilosani elucidated, the Draft has been entailed by the vulnerability of the breeders since the breeders, after the breeding of new species, were unable to register respective rights.
According to her, there is no accredited subject in Georgia to test the plans for the registration of the special right of the breeder and the costs for the hereof service abroad make the protection of the special rights of the breeders unprofitable.
The Draft assigns the Environmental Ministry as a competent body to test the plants for difference, homogeneity and stability, and its conclusion will be valid for the protection of the special right of the breeder by the Georgian Patent.
