Vladimer Kakhadze, First Deputy Chairman of the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee, met with Olga Knorre, Eurasia Programs Manager at Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids to discuss the planned changes in the tobacco legislation.

"Ms. Knorre has been our program coordinator since 2015, when she launched an advocacy campaign to change tobacco legislation, and she knows our region well. This time, the purpose of her visit is to assess the political readiness of the Parliament for the new legislative changes, which were developed by the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee and the Center for Disease Control a few months ago. It is planned to initiate these changes after the elections, and to adopt them by the end of the year”, - V. Kakhadze said after the meeting.

During her visit to Georgia, Olga Knorre will also hold meetings with the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Georgia Office and the Center for Disease Control.
