Parliamentary Assembly of French-Speaking Countries (Francophony) responds to the results of Russia-Georgian war with a special resolution and appeals to the international organizations and corresponding Bodies to the state, especially to the Francophony member states and governments to take all necessary measures for fulfilling the agreement of August 12 of 2008 on ceasing the fire; to restore the international observation missions on Georgia’s occupied territories immediately, particularly, the UN and OSCE missions and to widen EU monitoring mission; also, to draw up a new international peace mandate for realizing the IDPs’ safe returning to Abkhazia and South Ossetya.
The decision taken at the 35th session of Parliamentary Assembly of French-Speaking Countries (Francophony) was introduced to the journalists by MP Chiora Taktakishvili, who led the Georgian delegation at the above mentioned session. According to him, at the session, the countries of Francophony and also the states of Africa were provided with the complete information on August events. "Countries of Francophony, with their resolution supported Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity once again’, - stated Chiora Taktakishvili at the briefing.
