Chair of the Procedural Issues Committee and Head of the Georgia–Turkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, David Matikashvili, together with Vice Speaker of the Parliament Ilia Injia, attended an event marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

In his address, David Matikashvili stated that the relations established between the two countries are based on decades of friendship and mutual respect, providing a solid foundation for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

David Matikashvili highlighted the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, to Georgia on 16–17 July, during which a number of bilateral documents were signed.

Speaking about high-level exchanges, David Matikashvili noted that in 2025, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, paid three visits to Turkmenistan. Furthermore, he recalled that on 23–24 February this year, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dünýägözel Gulmanowa, paid an official visit to Georgia, underscoring the importance of cooperation between the legislative bodies of Georgia and Turkmenistan.
