David Songulashvili: we need more digital initiatives and qualified personnel

The Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, David Songulashvili participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Digital Transformation Forum. In his speech, he underlined that the comprehensive inculcation of digital technologies leads to the success of the state and society.

“Development of the digital technologies, innovations and new models, their timely and comprehensive establishment generates the unique opportunity for the success of the society and the state. I would like to particularly designate those new challenges we encounter in the GovTech direction and which implies the replacement of a closed and centralized system with the open de-centralized eco-system. It is vital to provide our support of the projects and programs in all the economic spheres that may stimulate the formation of the eco-system necessary for the innovations and technologies and application of these innovations and technologies in Georgia. Hence, we need more digital initiatives and qualified personnel”, - he stated and stressed the importance of the enhancement of the competitive capacity of Georgia in the global digital economy.

“In my presumption, facilitation of the development of the innovations and technologies and the hi-tech export, for instance, in the directions of energy and transport/transit, may serve as a guarantee for the economic strengthening and enhancement of the competitive capacity of Georgia in the global digital economy”, - he added.

The Digital Transformation Forum, organized by the ICT Cluster and Digital Transformation Consortium of Georgia, is held on June 27-July 1 with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, USAID Economic Security Program, and the USAID Economic Governance Program, as well as over 20 partner organizations.
