
The Deputy Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Irakli Medzmariashvili and the Committee members served a working visit to Italy with the invitation of the Georgian Community in Milan.
The Parliamentary Delegation attended the presentation of the Compendium of Novels by Nodar Dumbadze published with the initiative of the Society “Con la Georgia nel cuore” in cooperation with the “Creative House”. The novels were translated in Italian by a Georgian immigrant writer, Ruska Zhorzholiani.
The presentation was as well attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to Italy, H.E. Constantine Surguladze, Consul Natalia Kordzaia and the counselor David Gomarteli, the Heads of the Georgian Diaspora organizations, immigrants from the Italian cities, Italians interested in Georgian culture, and the academic and scientific circles of Italy.
As noted, the publication of the novels by Nodar Dumbadze in Italian will facilitate the approximation of the two countries, promotion of Georgian culture to Europe and awareness of Georgian diaspora in Italy.
I. Medzmariashvili thanked the Chair of the Georgian Community in Milan and its members for their activity. He underlined the importance to promote Georgian culture and delivered an award to the Community on behalf of the Parliament. He also awarded R. Zhorzholiani.
MPs held a meeting with the pedagogues and pupils of the Georgian Sunday School, folk ensembles and Georgian flock. The meetings were also held with the Georgian diaspora organizations.
