Eka Beselia and Gedevan Popkhadze participating in the International Conference “Role of the Parliament of Georgia in realization of the standards of the European Human Rights Convention”

The Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Eka Beselia and the First Deputy Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Gedevan Popkhadze are to serve the visit to Strasbourg to participate in the International Conference “Role of the Parliament of Georgia in realization of the standards of the European Human Rights Convention” organized by the CoE-EU joint project “Partnership for Good Governance” on November 8-9.

The Chair of the Legal Issues Committee and the PACE member, Eka Beselia; Director General of the CoE Directorate General for Human Rights and Rule of Law, Christos Giakoumopoulos, and the Resident Representative of Georgia to CoE, Irakli Giviashvili.

E. Beselia and G. Popkhadze will introduce the reform of the Parliament aiming at structured and effective oversight on monitoring of enforcement of the European Human Rights Convention and ECHR Orders.

The ECHR Judge, Lado Chanturia will deliver the speech at the session to be held in ECHR.

The participants will overview oversight on execution of ECHR orders, will get cognizant with the CoE cooperation initiatives with member states, discuss the ECHR newest approaches to identification of individual or general events in Orders, as well as Venice Commission-Georgia cooperation and compliance of the Bills with Convention and ECHR orders.
