Meeting of Rik Daems with Parliamentary Opposition

The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, H.E. Rik Daems, who is paying an official visit to Georgia, met with members of the parliamentary opposition.

At the meeting, the sides reviewed the current political processes in Georgia and discussed the implementation of the April 19 agreement.

"We expanded on all of the issues that are important to our country during our discussion with the PACE President. It alludes to recent events, such as violent incidents, as well as the deal made through EU intervention. Mr. R. Daems is aware of these concerns and plans to speak out about recent developments. We explicitly state that the Georgian Dream is defined by disobedience and violations of agreements, as we have seen in the context of the EU-mediated agreement, but there must be pressure from our European friends and colleagues to implement the agreement”, - Badri Japaridze stated.

According to Aleksandre Elisashvili, a member of the political group Citizens, the meeting focused on judicial reform and the April 19 agreement, among other topics.

"We talked about very specific issues, including our European colleagues talking about judicial reform and, of course, the implementation of the April 19 agreement”.
