Gia Zhorzholiani: Constitutional amendments can be adopted without the support of MPs from the National Movement and European Georgia parties

According to MP Gia Zhorzholiani, constitutional amendments can be adopted without the support of the MPs from the National Movement and European Georgian parties.

As he added, 113 votes needed for constitutional changes could be collected from 93 Georgian Dream members and other lawmakers who are not members of the United National Movement and European Georgia, and most have repeatedly stated publicly that they uphold constitutional changes.

"Consensus between the Georgian Dream, United National Movement and European Georgia is not necessary for the implementation of the constitutional amendments. 113 votes needed for the constitutional amendments can be collected from 93 members of the Georgian Dream and other non-members of the National Movement and European Georgia. We all well remember that the Georgian Dream has disappointed the citizens and our foreign partners and friends regarding the constitutional changes. As for the United National Movement and European Georgia, their irresponsible and unconstructive actions have long been well known to our society. The failure of these political groups to bring about constitutional changes by using non-expedient causes will impose on them the greatest political responsibility, which we believe our people will take into account during the elections. As a final point, I would like to mention that this topic is not relevant today, it can be called a struggle with windmills, the problems of everyday life during the pandemic are relevant for us today and concentrating on it is the most important for the Government and all responsible political forces", - Gia Zhorzholiani remarked at today’s briefing.
