“Today, not only the epidemiologic situation but the economic stability depends first of all on the public healthcare service, which shall be equipped with the wider and special authorities. Only the effective interactions between the state agencies and communication with the society can prevent the risks and panic”, - the Faction “Alliance of Patriots and Social-Democrats” Member, Gia Zhorzholiani stated at the briefing today.

The state shall assume responsibility for the economics, healthcare, social protection and education not leaving these spheres dependent on the free market.

“The current situation clarified that the governmental measures, other than the epidemiologic, shall also include the provision of the vital needs for all, especially for the people in grave social conditions and with low incomes. These measures include the provision of the food and medicines, which may require the set-up of the respective services and the crisis headquarter, issue of the vouchers for provision of the foods and medicines. The situation clarified that the role of the state shall be regained and we need to build the society not based on individualism but the solidarity. We need to restore the trust of the citizens, which cannot be fully achieved in the neo-liberal, so-called small state such as Georgia. The state shall assume responsibility for the economics, healthcare, social protection and education not leaving these spheres dependent on the free market as it is expected by 95% of the population. We shall fight not only against coronavirus but against the virus of the weak and neo-liberal state”.

He thanked the administration of the National Disease Control Center and the medical personnel for their effective efforts against coronavirus.
