Meeting of Giorgi Khelashvili with the Ambassador of Argentina

The First Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Head of the Georgia-Argentina Friendship Group, Giorgi Khelashvili held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina, H.E. Patricia Beatriz Salas.


The parties discussed the main directions of the cooperation between the countries and the prospects of enhancement of the Parliamentary links. The attention was attached to boosting the economic relations, especially in agriculture and tourism.


The parties touched upon the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the respective threats to Georgia and the wider Black Sea region. G. Khelashvili informed the Ambassador about the grave human rights situation in the occupied regions and the creeping annexation by Russia, stressing the non-recognition policy of our occupied regions. The conversation included the visit of the Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia to Argentina and all related aspects.


“At the meeting, we overviewed the visits recently served between our countries, including the visit of our Delegation to Argentina. We reviewed all the aspects of the visit aiming to share the experience of reforming within the Parliamentary cooperation. We dwelt on the regional security, as well as the challenges Georgia encounters, as well as the Russian aggression and the response of the international community and the engagement of Argentina in this process”, - G. Khelashvili stated.


As noted, the Parliamentary Delegation of Argentina is to soon serve the visit to Georgia.
