The Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, Irakli Kovzanadze, held a working meeting with James John, the head of the IMF Mission to discuss the economic situation of the country and existing challenges.
The conversation touched on the legislative initiatives adopted and planned by the Parliament in monetary, financial, and budgetary issues. The sides also discussed the current situation in the banking sector, the performance indicators of the 2022 state budget, and the main parameters of the 2023 draft state budget.
As Irakli Kovzanadze noted, the revised version of the draft state budget will be returned to the Parliament by the end of the week.
"In light of the existing challenges, the 2023 budget should ensure fiscal and monetary stability and, most importantly, reduce inflation”, - I. Kovzanadze noted.
