The Chair of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee, Irakli Medzmariashvili held a meeting with the UNICEF Representative, Ghassan Khalil and the UNICEF officers to discuss the launch of the pilot programs aiming at the health monitoring and preventive measures of the children engaged in physical activities.

As noted, after the conclusion of the Memorandum between the Committee and UNICEF, UNICEF provided financial support to the health screening program for the children engaged in sports schools and physical activities in Ozurgeti municipality.

“The pilot program includes the universal medical examination of the children in Ozurgeti municipality. The program will be implemented with the active participation of the Sports and Youth Issues, the Education and Science, and the Health Care and Social Issues Committees. After accomplishment of the program we intend to outline the remaining challenges and needs to reflect the respective funds in the municipal budget for further activities”, - I. Medzmariashvili stated.
