Irakli Shatakishvili, Delegate of Rustavi and ten communities of Gardabani Municipality and First Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, met with participants of the Rustavi Municipality youth project “The Mayor’s Young Representative”.
Irakli Shatakishvili spoke with the young participants about the role of Parliament, the legislative process, and the principles of local self-government.
The meeting was held in a discussion format. The participants showed interest in issues related to education, as well as local self-government and infrastructure development.
Prior to meeting with Irakli Shatakishvili, the project participants attended a session of the Foreign Relations Committee, where they had the opportunity to observe the committee’s work firsthand and gain practical insight into its proceedings.
“Through the ‘Mayor’s Young Representative’ project, young people have the opportunity to learn about the working principles of various municipal services both at the municipal administration and municipal council levels. Parliament also has its own role in the process of public governance. Today, the project participants had the opportunity to attend a session of the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee and see firsthand how committee work is conducted. I am confident that this is the generation that will continue to govern our cities and contribute to the development and strengthening of our country”, - said Irakli Shatakishvili.
