The Legal Issues Committee sets up the Working Group on Facilitation of the Identification of Compliance of the Candidates for the Supreme Court Judges with the legal requirements

The Legal Issues Committee set up the Working Group on Facilitation of the Identification of Compliance of the Candidates for the Supreme Court Judges with the legal requirements; the candidate, Archil Kotchlamazashvili was nominated by the High Council of Justice.

As per the decision of the Committee, the Working Group will be headed by the Committee member, the Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Rati Ionatamishviili.


The Group shall be composed of four members of the Faction “Georgian Dream” - Archil Gorduladze, Tornike Cheishvili, Rati Ionatamishvili and Akaki Aladashvili, as well as one member of the Political Group “European Socialists” - Nika Elisashvili, and one member of the PG “People’s Power” - Guram Macharashvili. Other members of the Group will also be: the Dean of the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University, Tamar Zarandia, and the Director of the LEPL “Legal Aid Service”, David Simonia.

In line with the procedure, the Group shall, within a term of two weeks, scrutinize the respective documents.

“This procedure has been developed by the Legal Issues Committee during the preceding convocation of the Parliament, which, let me underline without hesitation, has no analog in terms of the transparency and the procedural duration. Every member of our society is capable of listening and reading the questions, answers and the decisions made by the Committee and the Parliament”, - the Chair of the Committee, Archil Gorduladze noted.
