Victims of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence to now enjoy uninterrupted support services

The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee discussed with the I reading the Draft Law on Elimination of Violence against Women and/or Domestic Violence and Protection and Aid for the Victims.

According to the Chair, Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Draft, developed in compliance with the Istanbul Convention, re-regulates the issues related to the state services for the victims of domestic violence and/or violence against women, including the shelter and crisis centers, namely, the Draft annuls the precondition for the status of the victim upon the necessity of service.

“In line with the will expressed by the authorities concerning the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, the compliance with the Convention will be ensured, which means that the victims of violence will enjoy simplified and uninterrupted support services with no impediments”, - he elucidated.
