The Defense and Security, and the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee discussed the energy safety of the country in camera.
“Energy safety is utterly crucial since it is one of the key priorities of our security. Against the security challenges, it acquires particular importance for a country like Georgia. Thus, it is paramount to hear the report on the current state of energy safety from the respective agency, speaking about the degree of our access to energy resources and the quality of reliability and uninterruptedness of the provision of the energy medium. Besides, we would like to know about the state of our energy infrastructure and to hear about the challenges and the policy priorities to respond to these challenges”, - the Chair of the Defense Committee, Irakli Beraia stated.
The report was introduced to the Committees by the Deputy Economic Minister, Romeo Mikautadze.
The sitting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Secretary General of the National Security Council, Head of the Analytical Department of the State Security Service, and the Advisor of the President for Energy Security.
