The Committees discussed the International Agreements for ratification

The Sector Economy and Economic Policy, and the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committees discussed two international agreements submitted by the Government for ratification.


The Financial Agreement between Georgia and EIB (fiber network for the Georgian villages) envisages the construction of the optical-fiber telecommunication network in the villages, including in the highlands.


As the reporter, the First Deputy Finance Minister, Giorgi Kakauridze stated, the agreements concluded by the Government in August 2021 with the IBRD, and then with EIB aim at the higher access for the individuals and enterprises to the wideband internet for which each party allocates 34 ml EURO to Georgia.


This project already ensured the development of the complete tender documents in 2021 and this year, the tenders will be called countrywide to be accomplished as of 2025 – the construction of 5000 km. optical-fiber telecommunication network to cover up to 100 villages providing high-quality internet.


The Committees discussed the Loan Agreement between Georgia and ADB (ordinary transactions) (investment project of livable cities for equal development) envisaging the allocation of 101 ml. EURO for the improvement of the municipal infrastructure and services in the regions and Tbilisi, urban development, and public and tourist transport infrastructural development.


G. Kakauridze introduced the implementation terms and loan conditions. The Committees approved the documents.
