Offsite Session of Culture Committee in Telavi

The Culture Committee conducted a committee hearing at the Professional College "Prestige" in the Telavi Municipality to assess the state of art education. During the session, informative presentations were delivered by Pikria Kushitashvili, the deputy mayor of Telavi Municipality, and Levan Mrelashvili, the head of Telavi Resource Center.

The deputy mayor highlighted the presence of five music schools, one art school, and a student-youth home in Telavi municipality. She drew attention to the existing challenges in inclusive education, particularly the lack of infrastructure and professional staff.

Levan Mrelashvili, the head of the Telavi resource center, provided insights into the ongoing projects aimed at promoting art education in the public schools of Telavi. He shared that there are 27 public schools and 1 private school in Telavi municipality, where a total of 49 art and 43 music teachers are currently teaching.

"It is necessary to understand the conditions under which students have to acquire field knowledge and what are the needs of art education teachers. It is important that art education is accessible to everyone, because art is for everyone”, - Eliso Bolkvadze stated.

The members of the Committee expressed their support for the development of art education to all those programs and projects that will contribute to the development of the mentioned field in the region.
