Maia Bitadze Participated in the Closing Event of “Eco-Friendly Kakheti 2026”

The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze, participated in the closing event of “Eco-Friendly Kakheti 2026”, held at the Lagodekhi National Reserve, and addressed the invited guests.

“Children are creating an eco-friendly future. They understand well that waste should not simply be discarded, but can be recycled into new products. I am pleased that Kakheti is the first region where such a large-scale initiative is being implemented. I hope that in the near future we will be proud of the results for which the foundation is being laid today. This initiative will make a significant contribution to improving the region’s environmental conditions and introducing modern practices for the management of specific waste streams”, - Maia Bitadze stated in her remarks.

Over the course of two months, a project was implemented throughout the Kakheti region to promote environmental awareness and responsible environmental behavior. As part of the project, informational and educational meetings were held with students in schools across eight municipalities of Kakheti, aiming to encourage youth engagement and strengthen environmental responsibility.

“Eco-Friendly Kakheti 2026” was implemented on the initiative of the Georgian Extended Producer Responsibility Association – “WasteLess”, with the cooperation and involvement of the Parliament’s Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, the Environmental Protection and Agriculture Ministry, the Office of the State Representative in Kakheti, and all eight municipalities of the Kakheti region.

At the closing event held in Lagodekhi National Park, students and schools that had excelled within the framework of the project were awarded prizes.
