The Chair of the EU Integration Committee is currently participating in the plenary session of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC) in Madrid.

During her speech, Maka Botchorishvili emphasized the importance of granting Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership. She also highlighted the significant progress that Georgia has made on its path towards integration into the European Union.

"Since the decision made in June of last year, we have made substantial progress in implementing the 12 recommendations put forth by the European Union. Despite facing various challenges, we have remained committed to the reforms necessary to bring us closer to the EU. As a result, the European Commission has issued a favorable recommendation regarding the granting of candidate status to Georgia, as reflected in the enlargement report”, - Maka Botchorishvili stated.

The Chair of the European Integration Committee called on the representatives of the EU member states to support and emphasized that there are all grounds for a positive decision of the EU member states in December regarding the granting of candidate status to Georgia.

"The majority of Georgian citizens eagerly anticipate this historic decision by the European Union, as Europe is considered their home. This decision is of equal importance to both Georgia and the European Union, as it should serve as the cornerstone for a significant geopolitical change that is crucial for our shared European future”, - Maka Botchorishvili stated.
