
The Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Mariam Jashi took part in the Jubilee dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the Academician Tamaz Gamkrelidze held in the National Academy of Sciences.
“We are extremely honored to be the witnesses of the activity of the Academician Tamaz Gamkrelidze. On behalf of the Parliament, I would like to express sincere best wishes to Mr. Gamkrelidze with this jubilee. He is known amongst the scientists as the person dignified with the critical mind and substantiated thinking”, - M. Jashi noted.
She spoke about the public and political directions of the activity of the scientist: “All generations remember his special speech in Moscow after April 9 events, when he was the head of the State Commission and when he raised the strictest request regarding investigation of April 9 developments. In Soviet era, it was the bravest statement which will always remain in our history along with his scientific activity”.
M. Jashi spoke about the merits and achievements of T. Gamkrelidze: “Mr. Gamkrelidze has received all honorary awards during the last 30 years in Georgia, including the Order of Honor, as well as the international academic titles”.
