The Parliament endorsed the amendments to the Law on Broadcasting with 81 votes.
The document provides for the regulation of the right to respond to hate speech and calls to terrorism. The amendment also envisages guarantees for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities by media service providers, updated rules for advertising communications, and the introduction of regulation of video-sharing platforms.
With the adoption of the amendment, the legislation of Georgia comes into compliance with the relevant European directive on audiovisual media services.
