The working meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Francisco Bustillo Bonasso, was hosted by Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, to discuss the further deepening of relations between the two countries, the strengthening of cooperation in the field of common interests, and new prospects for cooperation.
"The visit of Uruguay's chief diplomat to Tbilisi has special significance for me as the leader of the Georgian-Uruguayan parliamentary friendship group. Georgia and Uruguay share a lot of natural, cultural, and economic similarities. As a result, it's critical to share the two countries' experiences in diverse directions,” said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
The focus of the meeting was on increasing links between the two nations' legislatures, as well as developing collaboration at the level of friendship groups.
N. Samkharadze spoke with the visitor about our country's foreign policy aims as well as recent political developments in Georgia.
The two parties discussed the situation in Georgia's occupied regions by Russia. The status and challenges in the South Caucasus, as well as security issues in the Black Sea region, were the main topics of discussion.
