Nikoloz Samkharadze called on the OSCE PA to efficiently support Ukraine

The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Head of the Parliamentary Delegation to OSCE PA, Nikoloz Samkharadze delivered the speech at the OSCE PA plenary session in Vienna.

According to him, uniform security means that if a standalone country encounters a security threat, then the security of the whole of Europe is put under question.

“Russian aggression against Ukraine poses a threat to the fundamental security principles of Europe and the OSCE Constituent Act. Today, we witnessed the example of the change of the borders by force in Europe”, - he stated.

He emphasized the grave situation in the occupied regions of Georgia. “Moscow intensified the annexation of the occupied regions of Georgia and keeps provocations on daily basis, which causes the destabilization of the situation. The local population is deprived of the opportunity to visit their own gardens and vineyards due to the wires, the passes at the occupation line are blocked, the Georgian citizens are abducted and illicitly detained, Georgian children are deprived of the right to receive education in their native language, the Georgian villages are renamed and the Georgian historical trace deleted – all these facts are the result of the occupation of the historical parts of Georgia. I have to agree with my Ukrainian colleague that this war is not only for Donbas or Russian-lingual minorities but it aims at the destruction of the statehood independence of Ukraine, Georgia and other countries”, - he stated.

According to him, the absence of the respective response of the international society to the Russian aggression poses a significant threat to European security.

“The role of OSCE is critical in the maintenance of the stability and security in Europe. We shall act without delay!”.
