
The Budget and Finance, the Sector Economy and Economic Policy, the Agrarian Issues, the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committees, at the joint sitting, discussed the vote of confidence to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Governmental Program for 2025-2028 - “Only with peace, dignity, prosperity towards Europe”.
The Committees heard the candidate for the Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitasvili; the candidate for the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili; the candidate for the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze; and the candidate for the Minister of Finances, Lasha Khutsishvili.
As the candidate for the Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitasvili noted, the country enjoys the positive economic tendencies evident for the last years. According to him, this progress speaks about a well-thought, consistent, proper and effective vision and policy of the Government in all aspects of the economic sphere. Per his information, as the forecasts and assessments published by the IMF reveal, Georgia will achieve the highest economic growth in the average run among the region countries and wider Europe this year.
According to the candidate for the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, environmental protection and agriculture are set as one of the primary links of national economics. As underlined by him, the development of these directors, the inculcation of hi-tech mechanisms and the sharing of international practice will have a direct reflection on the prosperity of the population. According to the candidate, the Government has taken result-oriented steps for the last decade facilitating the country's agricultural development.
The candidate for the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze accentuated the projects and plans undertaken and scheduled at the municipal and national level.
As the candidate for the Minister of Finances, Lasha Khutsishvili stressed, increased assignments for various spheres allowed the intensification of the social protection and healthcare programs, increase of the pensions and allowances, the regulation of the remunerations for the public sector employees, higher financing for the defense and security, education spheres and infrastructural projects etc. According to him, the state budget will, in an estimated perspective, will increase to 40 billion GEL as of 2028, allowing full coverage of the basic projects embodied in the Governmental Program.
All five Committees unanimously approved the candidates and the Governmental Program.
