The Parliament discussed for the III reading and adopted the Draft Code of Administrative Offenses with 82 votes, pursuant to which, the vehicles shall use the tire chains in the zones and road sections designated by the Government within December 1-March 1.

At that, in particular cases and providing the meteorological conditions, the different periods may be determined or additional requirements established about the anti-skid chains on winter tires.

The violation of the hereof requirement shall be subject to administrative liability – a penalty of 100 GEL and minus 5 points on the driver’s license. The technical specifications of winter tires shall be determined under the governmental resolution.

The legal package aiming at ensuring traffic safety was introduced by the Deputy Interior Minister, Alexander Darakhvelidze.
