Parliament Approves Stricter Administrative Liability for Environmental Pollution

The Parliament, at the III reading and adopted the amendments to the Administrative Offences Code with 79 votes in favour.

The draft law provides for the tightening of administrative liability for a range of administrative offences related to environmental pollution, including: violations of the rules for the placement and/or sale of used tyres, ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap, end-of-life vehicles and their parts, as well as flammable, explosive, or dust-generating materials within the territory of Tbilisi Municipality; processing of dust-generating materials without the use of wet methods; transportation of dust-generating materials; spillage of concrete onto the roadway during the movement of concrete-mixer vehicles.

The initiators of the draft law are Members of Parliament: Irakli Kadagishvili, Maia Bitadze, Irakli Zarkua, Nika Elisashvili, Vladimir Bozhadze, Irakli Kheladze, Irma Zavradashvili, Rima Beradze, Salome Jinjorlava, Dimitri Samkharadze, Davit Kacharava, Nodar Turdzeladze, Akaki Aladashvili, Shota Khabareli, Zurab Rurua, Giorgi Volski, and Levan Machavariani.
