Parliament considered, under an expedited procedure and in the III reading, the draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Georgia on Higher Education” and supported it with 77 votes.

According to the amendment, students enrolled before 17 December 2025 will, during the transitional period (through the 2030–2031 academic year), retain not only the funding they have already obtained, but will also be granted the opportunity to obtain and improve such funding.

The amendment fully ensures students’ participation in state grant competitions and access to social programs.

The amendment was authored by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, while the initiator of the bill was the Government of Georgia.
