The Parliament discussed for the III reading and adopted the Draft Organic Law on Political Unions of Citizens with 80 votes, submitted for expedited consideration.

The legal initiative of the Faction “Georgian Dream” was introduced by the First Deputy Chair of the Faction, Irakli Kirtskhalia.

In accordance with the recent amendments, the Political Party and a person with a declared electoral goal will no longer be permitted to accept donations from legal entities registered within or outside Georgia, or any other association of individuals, in the form of workshops, lectures, or other public events.

The legal initiative establishes mandatory approval of an authorized person/entity on grants issued by respective foreign sources. Accepting grants without approval shall be subject to the liability. The monitoring of the grant recipients shall be ensured by the LEPL Anti-Corruption Bureau.

As per the reporter, the grant acceptance rules shall also apply to the assets transferred free of charge in the monetary form or in kind that in essence constitute the grants.
