Plenary 09 Jun 2026
Parliament Supported at I Reading the Abolition of the Position of Deputy Parliamentary Secretary of the Government of Georgia

The Parliament of Georgia supported, at I reading, amendments to the Law of Georgia on the Parliamentary Secretary, with 79 votes in favour.

The essence of the legislative amendment was presented to Members of Parliament by Vakhtang Bachiashvili, Parliamentary Secretary of the Government.

According to the presenter, the position of Deputy Parliamentary Secretary of the Government of Georgia will be abolished.

He noted that, given the functions and responsibilities of the Parliamentary Secretary, maintaining a deputy position is not necessary, as the relevant duties can be performed within the framework of the existing administrative resources and organisational mechanisms.

Accordingly, the proposed amendment is intended to help prevent the duplication of functions and ensure a more effective distribution of responsibilities.
