The Parliament adopting the Draft Law on Higher Education for the III reading

The Parliament deliberated on the Draft Law on Higher Education for the III reading, submitted for expedited consideration, and adopted it with 85 votes. The Draft was introduced by the Deputy Education, Science and Youth Minister, Giorgi Jincharadze.

According to the Minister, in view of supporting the athletes, the amendments envisage the extension of the list of persons eligible to enter the University of Sports without the national exams.

Namely, members of national teams for individual sports categories, who achieve world and European championships (including in parasports), as well as members of national group teams that participate in Olympic Games, world, and European championships (including in parasports), who reach the final rounds and/or become entitled to participate in these tournaments, will be eligible to enter the University of Sports without the need for national examinations. The aforementioned rule of entering the University of Sports and Physical Education without the exams may apply to the sports categories only, the national sports organizations of which are recognized by the Ministry of Sports. The amendment shall not apply to the individual seeking the academic grants.
