
The Draft Law on the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons was adopted by the Parliament with 83 votes.
According to the reporter, the First Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Vakhtang Turnava, the Draft aims at the attraction of highly qualified international IT specialists to Georgia and the adaptation of the legal regulations to the IT market requirements, which will simplify and accelerate their employment in Georgia.
“The three-year IT residence permit constitutes a legally established special status for the foreign IT specialists - developers, designers, analysts etc. - providing them with a unique advantage to legally reside and work in Georgia for a term of three years”, - he stated.
According to him, the amendments apply to foreign citizens who undertake professional activities in the IT domain and hold international certificates of their education and working experience.
