The representative of the "Reforms Group", Teona Akubardia, spoke about the NATO Summit in Vilnius in the format of a free tribune.
"Membership in NATO provides both security for the country, which has been affected by Russian occupation, and a foundation based on shared values. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has further strengthened support for Georgia's NATO membership. It is believed that Georgia can only become a democratic, united, and sovereign country under the protection of NATO. Therefore, there is a need for political support to match the increased public support for NATO membership”, - Teona Akubardia stated.
She emphasized the importance of not separating Georgia and Ukraine at the Vilnius summit and proposed following the precedent set for Finland and Sweden. She suggested that the Parliament should send a joint appeal to NATO member states prior to the Vilnius summit.
"This will be an important message not only that Georgia wants to become a member of NATO, but it is also important that our partners show political and practical support to Georgia as well as Ukraine”, - Teona Akubardia stated.
A member of "Girchi", Aleksandre Rakviashvili spoke about the need to reduce taxes.
“The goal of "Girchi" is to reduce taxes to a morally justifiable level that aligns with the principles upheld by Western civilization. We advocate for consistently lowering taxes, eliminating the pension fund, reducing inflation, lowering income taxes, and eliminating excise taxes whenever possible. We promise the population that if we come into power, taxes will continue to be lowered until they reach a desired level”, - Aleksandre Rakviashvili stated.
