First Deputy Chairman of Legal Issues, the Legitimacy and Administrative Reforms Committee of Parliament, General Secretary of the Party "Socialist" - Zakaria Kutsnashvili has held a press conference.

 

According to his statement, with his effort Parliament has adopted the Law "On Social Ensuring of the Members of Scientific  - State Higher Educational and Scientific Research Institutions", which will become active from January 1, 2004. According to the Law salaries of scientists are significantly increased and consists of 130-300 Lari. According to his statement, in order to implement, the Law, higher educational institutions should be accredited. Zakaria Kutsnashvili has addressed the Acting President Nino Burjanadze and the Ministry of Education at the press conference and noted that they should support to timely accreditation of higher educational institutions in order to receive increased salaries that will ensure them socially.

 

"In order, the promise not to remain only promise, everything should be reflected in the budget of 2004. To make it sure, Ministry of Finance should take the draft of the budget to the Parliament for discussion", - stated the deputy.

 

At the press conference the General Secretary of "Socialist" has spoken about a new initiative, - Zakaria Kutsnashvili has begun to work on a new issue - increasing of salaries of the staff working in the operation and investigation section of the Internal Affairs Ministry, that should be increased up to 500 Lari. According to him the number of workers in this section is 4 thousand. And every year almost 15 policemen become victim of bullet.

 

Zakaria Kutsnashvili has expressed his hope that the Members of Parliament will share his opinion and it will be implemented soon.
