The Budget and Finance Committee Reviewed the State Audit Office’s 2027 Budget Proposal

The Budget and Finance Committee reviewed the State Audit Office’s 2027 budget application concerning budget appropriations and the maximum number of employees. The proposal was presented at the committee meeting by Deputy Auditor General of Georgia, Sofio Dvalishvili.

“Starting from March 2 of this year, the State Audit Office was granted the authority of the Personal Data Protection Service and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. In addition, a Financial Transparency Department will be established in May 2026. Accordingly, the staff ceiling for 2026 will be set at 459 positions”, - Sofio Dvalishvili stated.

According to her, the approved budget for 2026 amounted to GEL 27 million 923 thousand; however, taking these changes into account, the budget increased to GEL 40 million 237 thousand.

As the presenter noted, the increase between the approved 2026 budget and the 2027 budget amounts to GEL 2 million 456 thousand.

“According to the 2027 budget draft, the total amount combining the budgets of the State Audit Office and the Public Audit Institute will amount to GEL 43 million 811 thousand”, - the Deputy Auditor General stated.

She provided committee members with a detailed overview of each budget line item.
