
The PABSEC 67th General Assembly is being held in Georgia. The central theme of this parliamentary forum is: "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Promoting Regional Cooperation: Innovation, Connectivity, and Sustainable Development in the Black Sea Region”.
More than 100 delegates from the BSEC member states are participating in the parliamentary forum, where they will discuss the reports presented and adopt relevant recommendations. Georgia currently holds the presidency of the Organization.
At the 72nd meeting of the PABSEC Bureau and the Standing Committee, heads of parliamentary delegations from the Organization's member states reviewed the agenda of the current session and determined the venues and dates of future meetings.
The meeting of the PABSEC Bureau and the Standing Committee was presided over by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, in his capacity as President of the Parliamentary Assembly.
"It is important that during Georgia's presidency, the Assembly conducted its work actively. As President of the Assembly, I had the opportunity to participate in several parliamentary events on behalf of the Assembly. I believe this has, to some extent, strengthened and revitalized the Assembly's activities. At the next stage, the Presidency of the Assembly will be transferred to Greece”, - Shalva Papuashvili stated.
The PABSEC 67th General Assembly will officially open on 30 June in the village of Mepiskalaki, Kaspi Municipality, with welcome addresses by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, and the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi.
The Georgian Parliamentary Delegation to the PABSEC is headed by Irakli Mezurnishvili, First Deputy Chair of the Economic Policy Committee.
The PABSEC is the principal parliamentary platform in the Black Sea region, promoting political dialogue, economic cooperation, and regional stability among its member states. The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation comprises 13 member states: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. Six countries hold observer status in the Organization: Belarus, Egypt, Israel, France, Germany, and Slovakia.
