Parliamentary Delegation Participates in the NATO PA Spring Session

The Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia, led by the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikololz Samkharadze, is participating in the NATO PA Spring Session.

The session, which began in Vilnius on 30 May and will continue until 1 June, is also attended by Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the EU Integration Committee and a member of the delegation.

During the session, participants discussed hybrid and conventional threats originating from Russia, the military aggression against Ukraine and its implications for the Alliance, as well as strengthening the resilience of NATO member and partner countries. Particular attention was paid to the use of modern technologies on the battlefield. During the discussions, parliamentarians and representatives of the military and academic communities noted that more concrete measures are needed to strengthen Euro-Atlantic defense, particularly through increasing defense budgets, extending the duration of mandatory military service, and modernizing armaments.

At the plenary sitting of the session, parliamentarians voted on the declaration entitled: “A Quantum Leap in Deterrence and Defence: A Parliamentary Agenda for a Stronger NATO”.
