A new Thematic Inquiry into Women’s Access to Financial Resources will be headed by an opposition MP Ana Natsvlishvili and composed of MPs representing different political forces.
The study aims to remove existing obstacles and provide women with access to entrepreneurial - financial resources. The study will help provide policy tools for the Georgian Parliament and other state entities to achieve this goal.
"In Georgia, women are crucial to the social and economic well-being of families. However, their labor is frequently unnoticed, underappreciated, and exposed. In addition, compared to men, women have far less access to financial resources and business-starting prospects. Economic equality is a prerequisite for both equality and a just environment. Our mission is to expose all the obstacles that stand in the way of women becoming economically successful and engaged, to create solutions to the issues that are now facing society, and to bring about the changes that women and society as a whole need in this direction. The ability of society to combat poverty, violence, and injustice is bolstered by the economic empowerment of women, as seen by the experiences of many nations", - Ana Natsvlishvili remarked.
For this purpose, the existing legislation, institutional framework, and practice, as well as international experience, will be studied within the framework of the thematic inquiry, the experiences of female entrepreneurs and organizations providing financial resources in Georgia will be analyzed, and recommendations will be prepared with the involvement of experts, the implementation of which will be supervised by the Parliament.
As part of the research, meetings will be held with women entrepreneurs in Tbilisi and regions, representatives of various state agencies and local self-governments, civil society, donor organizations, and the financial sector.
As part of the research, the first offsite meeting is planned for August 9-10 in Ambrolauri.
The National Institute for Democracy, the AA Facility, and UK aid are all providing financial support for the project.
