The annual session opened with meetings of the Assembly’s standing committees. The Georgian parliamentary delegation participated in the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee, during which representatives of member states had the opportunity to present developments, achievements and current challenges in their respective countries.

During the Committee meeting, the Head of the Georgian delegation, Giorgi Kakhiani, addressed the participants, providing an overview of the political situation in Georgia, the reforms implemented by the Government, and the key challenges facing the country.

He also spoke about the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, the Russian Federation’s illegal occupation, human rights violations, and the ongoing process of so-called “borderization”.

Giorgi Kakhiani also drew attention to Georgia’s support for Ukraine and the humanitarian assistance it has provided, noting that contemporary international challenges can only be addressed through dialogue, cooperation and respect for the fundamental principles of international law.
