Today, the Group heard two reports by the State Audit Office on the Emergency Management Agency, Ministry of Environment and Agriculture with the relevant agencies - the National Forest Agency, the Agency of Protected Areas, and the Department of Environmental Supervision.

The members of the Group got cognizant of the findings, recommendations, and remarks that were outlined in the reports.

The Head of the Order and Security Audit, Sophio Dvalishvili, presented the audit report on the effectiveness of emergency management (prevention, preparedness) caused by forest fires and explained that the audit focused on prevention - preparedness measures and the purpose of the audit was to assess the extent to which the planned and implemented measures to reduce the risk of natural disasters will be achieved.

The audit was conducted in three areas: forest fire prevention measures, forest fire preparedness measures, and legislative gaps. 6 recommendations were issued by the Audit Service within the report.

The Audit Group, which analyzes the State Audit Office's reports, also looked over the audit report on the efficacy of timber commercial and social management and considered the study's suggestions.

The subject of the audit, according to Giorgi Kekelishvili, Head of the General Services Audit Department of the State Audit Office, was the state of implementation of the recommendations provided during the previous audit, and six suggestions were issued.

At the meeting, each item was thoroughly discussed, and representatives from the audits briefed the Group on their perspectives on the recommendations. They discussed all of the work that has been done that is necessary and crucial for the suggestions to be implemented. Positive dynamics in the implementation of the recommendations have been highlighted, with the majority of them having been executed.

In 2021, the Group examined 20 papers covering more than 30 topics and offered over 125 recommendations, which would be implemented through the legislative oversight and that of the Audit Office.

"Our major purpose isn't only to conduct a general examination of the reports that have been filed but to implement the Audit Service's suggestions, and if we don't, to figure out why we didn't succeed and make appropriate plans”, - Paata Kvizhinadze, the group's Head, stated.
