SAKSTAT Presented a Report to the EU Integration Committee on the Fulfillment of the Association Agreement Commitments

The EU Integration Committee heard the activity report of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (SAKSTAT) regarding the fulfillment of the Association Agreement commitments.

In his welcoming remarks, the Chair of the Committee, Levan Makhashvili, noted that the Committee is interested in reviewing information on reforms implemented and planned steps in the field of statistics, as statistics constitute an important component of the EU enlargement report, and properly produced statistical data reflect the country’s overall state of development.

The SAKSTAT’s Executive Director, Gogita Todradze, presented information on the progress of reforms carried out in recent years in the field of statistics.

Particular emphasis was placed on SAKSTAT’s transition to a fully electronic system, considering that some EU member states still apply a combined methodology.

According to the reporter, the years 2024–2025 were largely devoted to the population and agricultural censuses, which marked the first fully electronic census in the history of Georgia.

Gogita Todradze also spoke about the steps taken to improve data accessibility and the use of alternative data sources. In addition, he highlighted measures undertaken to enhance the exchange of information with Eurostat.
