Salome Kurasbediani partaking in the 14th Local Economic Development Forum

The Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Salome Kurasbediani attended the 14th Local Economic Development Forum.

At the session “Government of Georgia in the Legal Context”, she concentrated on the significance of the strong self-governments in the democratic development process and the participation of the citizens in the local decision-making.

“The collaboration between the local and central authorities is imperative for the effective enforcement of the decisions by the local government, especially in the implementation of the laws that are to be executed by the municipalities, including the biodiversity or water resource management. The amendment introduced to the Spatial Planning, Architectural and Construction Activity Code is of no less importance since the green project is mandatory for the construction permit. This is the requirement introduced for Tbilisi in 2018, applied countrywide since January 2024, and subject to the municipalities for execution. In general, the local authorities play key role in the democratic and economic empowerment of the country”, - she stated.
