The Parliamentary Delegation attending the Baltic Assembly Session

On October 27-28, Riga hosts the 41st Session of the Baltic Assembly, attended by the Georgian Delegation headed by the First Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Giorgi Khelashvili.


He delivered the speech touching upon the solidarity of Georgia to Ukraine, the situation on the occupied territories of Georgia and the Russian aggression against Georgia. He underlined the importance of the EU-NATO joint efforts in facilitating peace in the region and supporting the EU and NATO aspirations of Georgia.


G. Khelashvili thanked the Baltic lawmakers and the Baltic people for their unwavering support to Georgia.


Within the visit, G. Khelashvili held a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Latvian Saeima and the Head of the Latvia-Georgia Friendship Group and discussed the geopolitical challenges in the region, Russian aggression in Ukraine and the security milieu, as well as Parliamentary cooperation prospects.


In Riga, G. Khelashvili gave an interview to Latvian Television, where he dwelt on the impact of the Russian aggression, the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, Ukraine-Georgia relations and the EU and NATO perspectives of our country.


The Session was attended by the Speakers of the Parliaments of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Montenegro, Poland and Iceland, as well as the Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and the OSCE PA President and the Vice-President of the European Parliament.
